Welcome to the new Agent007 blog a celebration of the enduring and iconic secret agent James Bond. This blog will bring you news, information and trivia related to one of the most successful franchises ever created.

James Bond first appeared in 1953, the work of writer Ian Fleming who wrote 12 novels and 2 short story collections about the daring and cruel hero behind the scenes of international politics. After Fleming’s death in 1964 various writers picked up the mantle and wrote novels featuring Bond and the books spawned an incredibly popular series of films which are still drawing in the crowds today. There have been 22 films featuring Bond and the character has undergone various transformations with 6 actors taking on the role, 7 if you count the 1967 spoof Casino Royale and many more if you count radio productions.

Bond caught the public imagination and the appeal of a single man who could change the course of world history through violent and often suicidal behaviour has not dimmed over the years. Featuring exotic locations, beautiful women, memorable villains and often psychotic violence the books and films have inspired many modern day celluloid heroes. The franchise has attracted many talented writers and film makers over the years and there have been highs and lows along the way.

The fact that Bond has survived through so many incarnations is testament to the popularity of this uniquely British hero. Bond is quite simply indestructible and his unwavering efforts to save the world look set to continue for a long time yet.
